This year, we celebrate 10 years of the Leah G Hawkinson Nursing Scholarship. In the 10 years since the endowment was established, the scholarship has supported 10 first-generation students, with demonstrated financial need, achieve their dreams of getting their RN, becoming a vital part of our healthcare system. These students have a shared passion for community service and for advocacy work on behalf of underserved groups. We know a few of the students have gone on to receive advanced nursing degrees and were able to do so thanks to the tremendous early support of Leah’s Scholarship.

Since 2012, the Scholarship has awarded $14,100 in scholarships. This endowment will live on in perpetuity and continue to support SVC students follow their dreams. The Leah G Hawkinson Scholarship is a lifeline for SVC students, it was established with a belief that education transforms the lives of students, and future generations, by investing in education. SVC is working on accreditation for a BSN program, Leah’s gift will continue to support these students as the program evolves with the demands of the healthcare industry.
