Why Your Gift Matters
Invest in Students Today and Change a Life Forever!
Skagit Valley College’s doors are open to everyone in our community. We are proud to serve students from 16 to 65 and beyond throughout Skagit, Island, and San Juan counties. Our student population is unique and not entirely made up of recent high school graduates. They come from all walks of life and many of them have overcome extraordinary barriers to pursue their educational dreams and goals.
Did you know this about SVC students?…
- The average age of our students is 29;
- More than 80% of our students come to us with significant financial need;
- 2/3 of our students are the first in their family to attend college;
- More than 1,000 SVC students have dependents living with them, and most of these students struggle with childcare expenses.
Despite facing extraordinary challenges, all SVC students share an enormous desire and motivation to improve their lives, lifting up themselves, their families and our community.
Your support is more critical than ever as we have seen the State dramatically reduce funding for Community and Technical Colleges from 98% in 1980 to just over 50% today! The burden to cover the cost of education continues to shift more and more toward our students!
