The SVC Student Emergency Fund helped Eric stay on track.
Managing the cost of higher-education is a high-wire act for most SVC students. Eric Gallardoflores was a 4.0 student working on his transfer degree when the increasing cost in rent, groceries, and gas overwhelmed his ability to continue his education. He limited his driving to the bare minimum, held off on buying textbooks for classes, using the textbooks available to students in the library, and borrowed money from family and friends to try and make ends meet.
Thankfully, an SVC professor told Eric about the SVC Student Emergency Assistance Fund, he was relieved to experience some assistance so he could stay on track. “I have been able to make ends meet because of the fund,” said Eric. “I was going to shy away from support but realized it would not be to my benefit to do so. I encourage anyone needing assistance to apply if it means continuing your education.”
