Student Childcare Assistance Fund
During her final quarters of SVC’s demanding nursing program, Kimberly faced a critical challenge: affording full-time childcare. SVC’s Childcare Assistance Fund stepped in and she graduated with her nursing degree in 2023.
Student Emergency Assistance Fund
A 4.0 student, Eric faced overwhelming costs from rising rent, groceries, and gas that threatened his education. After learning about the SVC Student Emergency Assistance Fund from a professor, he received crucial support that allowed him to continue his studies.
Sidney S. McIntyre Jr. Skagit Valley College Memorial Scholarship
Cesar was a recipient of the prestigious Sidney S. McIntyre, Jr. Skagit Valley College Memorial Scholarship. He is now a biology major at the University of Washington. He plans to attend medical school and become an anesthesiologist.
Athletic Scholarship
An accomplished athlete and student, Briley wouldn’t have been able to attend college without scholarships. A descendent of the Yakama Nation and Shoshone Bannock Tribes, an injury threatened to derail her college plans.
George W. Wallace Scholarship
Jonathan is the first in his family to attend college. The George W. Wallace Scholarship helped Jonathan Garcia-Pantoja complete his studies at SVC and gain acceptance to the University of Washington.
Student Emergency and Childcare Assistance Fund
When rising childcare costs nearly derailed his educational ambitions, Christopher Palacios, a dedicated student in SVC’s Diesel Technology Program, was able to graduate in 2024 with support from SVC’s Childcare Assistance Program.

Skagit Valley College’s welding program recently received a substantial boost through a donation of $30,000 worth of steel plate and carbon material from T BAILEY, INC., a leader in the Northwest’s heavy-civil, industrial construction, and heavy steel fabrication sectors.

SVC is serving as a lead partner in the second Around the Americas (ATA) expedition. This exciting and unique project is engaging more than 50 students studying for their associate’s degree or certificates in marine technologies.

A former dean of SVC’s Whidbey Island Campus and champion of the Marine Technology program, Dr. Sprague donated the Lady M, a 25’ Ranger Tug powerboat to the program for student hands-on training.
