Ask any scholarship recipient how receiving a scholarship helped them, and you will find it is always more than financial. This couldn’t be truer for Jonathan Garcia-Pantoja, “With this award, I have the sense that there are people in our community that are supporting me in my educational journey and cheering me on,” said Jonathan.
SVC Foundation scholarships open doors for students to dream, Jonathan is the first member of his family to attend college and he knew the financial burden was going to be heavy. “An SVC scholarship is a big opportunity and helps lighten the heavy cost of college from my family,” said Jonathan.
Jonathan graduated from Burlington-Edison High School in 2022. After not getting into the college of his dreams, Jonathan chose to attend SVC and to later transfer to the University of Washington where he plans to study business and accounting.
This year, Jonathan received the George W. Wallace Scholarship. The George W. Wallace Scholarship supports students studying in the field of Business Management with the intent of transferring to a four-year college/university to pursue a career in accounting.
